Rising Star

Advantage Models & Talent and the Rivers & Spires Festival, Inc are proud to announce a new year of the Rising Star Talent Search. The Rising Star Talent Search is a competition giving contestants an opportunity to showcase their talents in one or more of the following areas singing, dancing, modeling and acting. Only the best performers will have a chance to take the final stage Saturday evening, April 19th, where our judges will vote on the next "Rising Stars." No experience is required. Deadline to complete an online application is Friday, April 11.

The Tryout Auditions will be held on festival site Saturday, April 19th,10am-1pm, where finalist will be selected for the Main Performance that evening from 4pm-6pm.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS:

Please be at the registration table 30 minutes before your audition in order to sign in.

The registration table will be on First Street near City Hall. Look for the signs

Please bring a photo with you when you sign in. It can be any size, but will not be returned to you. We will attach it to your application so the judges can better remember you! We have already printed your application; all you need to bring is a picture.

The stage will be at First & Main Street next to the Photo Shop across from City Hall Parking Lot.

There is no designated parking; you are on your own to find space.

Please arrive at your scheduled sign-in/audition time.

Auditions are from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, and we will be on a tight schedule. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

If you registered for more than one category, you will do all your auditions while you are on the stage.

The list of Final Show participants will be posted by 3:00 pm at the registration table. Final Show participants will go with the judges at that time for an orientation. When you return at 3:00pm to check the Final Show list, come prepared to stay. The Final Show begins at 4:00pm on the same stage as auditions.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING FOR THE EVENT(S) IN WHICH YOU ARE REGISTERED TO AUDITION:

MODELS
Arrive in the attire you plan to wear during the audition. When you come back at 3:00 pm to check the list for the final show, come dressed and ready for the final event. Before your audition, the judges will give you directions regarding what to do on the stage. Last year, models walked from side to side of the stage, to the back, and to the front.

ACTORS
Download the script from the Rising Star page on the Rivers & Spires website. Scroll to the bottom of the Rising Star Webpage and click on Sample Scripts. You may prepare your own monologue/script, but it can be no longer than 30 secondsfor the audition. You may want to prepare an original for the final show, just in case you are selected. You may take up to 1 minutefor the final show if you wish.

DANCERS
Please have your music CD ready before you take the stage to audition. It would be most helpful if you had a post-it note with the track number attached to the disc if you have more than one song on the CD. We will be on a tight schedule, so we'll want to get you on stage ASAP between contestants. The dance floor is 15x15 on the stage. You will have no more than 1 minute for audition. You may have up to 3 minutes for the final show. When you return at 3:00 pm to check the list of Final Show participants, please arrive prepared to stay, including your music CD for the final show.

SINGERS
You may sing a cappella for the audition. If you prefer to have music, please have your music CD ready before you take the stage to audition. It would be most helpful if you had a post-it note with the track number attached to the disc if you have more than one song on the CD. We will be on a tight schedule, so we'll want to get you on stage ASAP between contestants. You will have no more than 1 minute for your audition. You may have up to 3 minutes for the final show.
